Mrs. Barbara Ann Swaim, of Wyo Road, Yadkinville, passed away Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. She was 62.

She was born May 16, 1948, in Forsyth County to the late Ethel Leona Sizemore and Thomas B. Carter.

Mrs. Swaim was a loving, devoted homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family. She enjoyed taking care of her great-grandchild, loved her horses, and spending time with her “second” family in Love Valley.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her three brothers, Harold Thomas Carter, Gary Benbow Carter, and Leray Carter.

She is survived by her daughter, Robin Denise and husband Charles Joyner of Pine Hall; two grandchildren, Chelsey Stephens and Jerry Soto, with their daughter, Aubry Soto, Brandon Stephens; step-grandchildren, Brooke and Cody Joyner; sisters, Lois Steelman, Alma Vestal; special friends, Arlene Driver, Glenda Webb, Jean and Darnell; several nieces and nephews, and a special thank you to Teresa Phibbs and Betty Carter.

The family received friends from Tuesday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Her funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Gentry Family Chapel with internment at Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem.
