He was born May 27, 1938 in Yadkin County to the late Avery and Mayme Collins Hobson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Derrick Todd Hobson; brother, Thomas Anthony Hobson.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Martha Brown Hobson; son, Jeffrey Brian and wife Amy Hobson.
His funeral service was held Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, at Deep Creek Friends by the Rev. Georgiana Satterfield. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends from. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.
