Yadkinville residents charged with prescription pad theft

The Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office arrested Randall Darron Pruitt, 22 of Yadkinville, and Lelia Gene Settle, 37 of Yadkinville and charged them with using a stolen prescription pad from a medical center in Huntersville to obtain the drug Oxycodone.
Pruitt is charged with obtaining a controlled substance by fraud and trafficking in opiates by possession. He is being held in the Yadkin County Jail under a $15,000 bond.
Settle is charged with two counts of possession with intent to manufacture sell and deliver a schedule II controlled substance, two counts of sell and deliver a controlled substance, obtaining a controlled substance by fraud and trafficking in opiates by possession.
The Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office began their investigation in March of 2013 when deputies received information that the suspects were allegedly obtaining multiple prescriptions from several pharmacies in North Carolina, according to a sheriff’s office release. The investigation included infiltrating the ring of suspects.
Deputies searched a mobile home located on Cleary Road in Yadkin County and found several used needles and syringes, along with many other forms of drug paraphernalia, according to the release. Detectives also recovered several fraudulent prescriptions, one at a pharmacy in Yadkinville. That prescription had been recognized as being fraudulent by one of the pharmacist and was not filled.
Deputies report the suspects would use several different names and would drop off the prescriptions and then return later with a fraudulent ID or use their real names in some cases in order to pick up the prescriptions, according to the release.
Other suspects have been arrested in Statesville and Elkin. Representatives in the sheriff’s office say that more suspects and or more charges could be pending in other jurisdictions. Those cities include Huntersville, North Wilkesboro, Mocksville, Statesville and Elkin.
The investigation included the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office, Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office, Yadkinville Police Department, Elkin Police Department, NC State Bureau of Investigation and NC State Highway Patrol.
