RONDA - The Lady Falcons gave Mountain Valley Conference regular-season champion North Wilkes all they could handle Wednesday night in the conference tournament semifinals.

Forbush hung tough and took the Vikings to overtime before falling 62-56.

The Falcons jumped all over North in the early going, grabbing a 14-6 lead in the first. After leading 17-12 at the end of one, Forbush held a six-point edge over the Vikings at the break.

North battled back and finally pulled ahead late in the third, taking a 40-37 lead to the fourth quarter.

After the Vikings pushed their lead out to five at 49-44, Forbush responded and tied things up at 51-51 on a Maddi Morsch runner with 51 seconds left to play.

North had a chance to seal the victory down the stretch, but missed free throws nearly doomed the champs.

The Falcons had three opportunities in the final 3.4 seconds for the game-winner, but failed to get a quality shot off, sending the game to the extra session.

In overtime, the Vikings knocked down crucial free throws and outlasted Forbush 62-56 to punch their ticket to the tournament title game.

Savannah Hill poured in a team-high 30 points in her final conference game, while Brittany Moose added 14 more.
