Boonville couple celebrates 60 years of marriage

Mr. and Mrs. Major P. Woodruff of Boonville, NC celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a dinner hosted by their children at The Depot in Dobson on Saturday, January 12, 2013.

Betty Jane Snow, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.R. Snow, and Major Pearson Woodruff, son of Mr. and Mrs. A.P. Woodruff, were married by the Rev. T.S. Draughn on January 4, 1953 at the home of the bride’s parents in Dobson. They have three children: Kim (Jeffrey) Shaw of Galax, VA; Stephen Woodruff of Raleigh, NC; and Anne Marie Hardy of Elkin, NC.

Mr. and Mrs. Woodruff are retired farmers. Mrs. Woodruff is a homemaker. Mr. Woodruff still enjoys raising beef cattle.

The family plans a trip in the spring to further celebrate this milestone anniversary.
