9th Annual Messiah performance seeks string musicians
by Submitted by Patrick Long
The ninth annual Yadkin Community Chorus performance of Handel’s Messiah rehearsal begins on Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. at Yadkinville United Methodist Church.
Sponsored by the Yadkin Arts Council, the Yadkin Community Chorus convenes annually in October to rehearse for the performance scheduled for the third Sunday of Advent. The 2012 performance is scheduled for Dec. 16, 2012 at 3 p.m., in the nearly completed Yadkin Cultural Arts Center-Willingham Theater.
The Yadkin Community Chorus, directed by Ginger Holt, consists of many vocal artists from around Yadkin County. Vocal artists vary in skill level from novice to expert, and of all ages.
“In addition to our performance this year, we hope to recruit local string musicians to accompany our wonderful pianist, Keena Moxley,” said Patrick Long, performance coordinator. “We are seeking out local talent in classical cello, viola, violin, harp or guitar. We hope to expand our performance to include additional members with vocal and musical talent. I encourage anyone who is interested to come join us October 18th. The ability to read music is not required, but it is helpful.”
Additional information about the performance can be found at the Yadkin Arts Council website www.yadkinarts.org or follow the chorus on Facebook at www.facebook.com/YadkinChorus.
