A little more than a month after Jones and Jones Jewelers employees were robbed at gunpoint, the store is faced with another burglary.
According to Yadkinville Police Captain Patrick Long, it appears that a male burglar broke a window at Jones and Jones Jewelers on June 3 at 4:29 a.m. Officers were on the scene within a minute and a half of the alarm’s notification.
When police arrived, the burglar had already fled the scene. Captain Long says that officers were able to process the scene and collect several pieces of key evidence. Officers are actively working the case, and Captain Long says that a lot of the evidence is developing very quickly.
A suspect has not been apprehended, but Captain Long says that he is very optimistic. Jones and Jones Jewelers were still conducting inventory at press time so the total amount of items stolen is undetermined at this time. Captain Long said that he expects there to be more costs in damages than in loss of property.
“We’ve alerted the pawn shops and precious metals dealers so that they know what to be looking for,” Captain Long said.
Jones and Jones Jewelers employees had been robbed at gunpoint on April 25. That crime remains unsolved after the vehicle seen fleeing the scene was found abandoned in the parking lot of a grocery store.
Anyone with information about either of the robberies is asked to contact the Yadkinville Police Department at 679-2863.
