70 Years ago Boonville High School Class of 42 had their Reunion May 6 at the Yadkin Valley Seafood. Four members were present Bobby Hobson, George Moxley, Howard Adams and Vivian Harrison, Four members not present were Mary Kate Shugart, Evelyn S. Smith, Callie Jane Caudle Windsor and Nancy Sue A Brooks. Girls basketball won Yadkin Valley Conference as well as Yadkin County, Albert Martin was the coach.

The meetings are open to the public and members of the public may address the Board during a public comment period held at the beginning of each regularly scheduled meeting. The Public Comment period will provide three (3) minutes per speaker, up to five (5) speakers per meeting, for a total of fifteen (15) minutes, or at the discretion of the Board.

•Once again, the Northwestern Regional Libraries, of which Boonville is a part of, are planning a fundraiser for the entire NWRL library system. This year’s fundraiser is a ‘Poker Run for Readers’. June 16 will be the rain date, if we have to change the date. Anyone can participate in this fundraiser. Motorcycle riders, as well as car drivers, can enter. There will be a different route for each. The library is accepting pre-registrations now. Those who pre-register get a free t-shirt. The deadline for pre-registration is Monday, May 7. The cost to register is $25 for driver; $15 each per riders. The Poker Run will begin at Freeborne’s Eatery & Lodge at the Laurel Springs Parkway Bridge, Mile Post 248. At Freeborne’s and at each stop, participants will draw a card. Each participant will need to plan to return to Freeborne’s by 5:30 p.m. for a free cookout and live music, at which time winners will be announced

•1 p.m.-3 p.m.-Yadkin County Humane Society will be having a fundraiser. There will be games for the kids, kids can pet the animals at the vineyard and there will be wine tasting. Balloon release will be at 2:45. Event will take place at Hanover Park Vineyard at 1927 Courtney-Huntsville Rd, Yadkinville NC 27055. If you are interested in purchasing a balloon please let me now. They are $10 each and we can release the balloon for you, or hopefully you will be at the event to release or you can release at your home. June 10 is Pet Memorial Day so no better day to purchase a balloon in honor of you pet. The balloons are not just for your pets, they are for anyone you want to honor. We also get a percentage of the wine sells between 1-3. So please bring the whole family for some fun.
