Mr. Charles Ware Fortune, 86, of East Bend, passed away on Monday, April 9, 2012.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, April 13, 2012, at 2:00 P.M. at East Bend United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Johnson, Rev. Cathy Turman, and Rev. Nancy Johnson officiating. A graveside ceremony will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Clayton Cemetery with full military honors.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 12, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Huff Funeral Home.

Fonzo Odell Snow

Fonzo Odell Snow, 91, of Yadkinville died Friday, April 6, 2012, at his home.

Mr. Snow was born on July 26, 1920, in Surry County, NC to the late William Abner and Mildred Levora Williamson Snow. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving as an Aviation Machinist’s Mate Third Class. His service took him to Natal, Brazil as a B-29 Gunner, as well as to Ohio and Norfolk, VA. After his military service, he raised tobacco and worked at Steelman Mill for over 25 years. He loved gardening, fishing, and playing cards.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Ruby Lee Shinault Snow; a daughter: Shirley Snow Todd; four brothers: Cleve, Auty, Kermit, and Jim Snow; two sisters: Norma Barber and Fammie Snow; and a granddaughter: Marty Childress.

He is survived by a daughter: Mary Lee Snow Potts, of Yadkinville; a son-in-law: Joel Todd, of Pisgah Forest, NC; two brothers: Foster Snow and Spencer Snow; two sisters: Lala Doss and Thelma Jurney; and two grandchildren: Heather Todd (Matthew Wilhite,) and Jody Potts.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2:00pm on Monday, April 9, 2012 from the Chapel at Mackie-Sinclair-Hawkins Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc. (2001 West Main Street, Yadkinville, NC,) with Rev. Rick Page officiating. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Deep Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, with full military honors by the Yadkin Honor Guard #10346.
