Mr. Arlen Hardin Money of Roaring Gap passed away Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011. He was 91.

Mr. Money was born Aug. 20, 1920, in Wilkes County to William Benson and Lou Ada Laster Money. He was a member of Forbush Baptist Church and served in the Army Air Corps during WWII.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vadie Luffman Money; brothers, Harvey Money, Howard Money, Willie Money, and Parks Money; and sisters, Pansy Finney and Alcie Hammer.

Survivors include his sons, Arlen G. Money of Roaring Gap and James Keith Money of Lake Mary, Fla.; daughters, Shelby Pettyjohn and her husband Crawford of East Bend, and Judy Walker and her husband Bill of Elkin; sisters, Bretta Luffman of Elkin and Hallie Luffman of Elkin; grandchildren, Lynn Pettyjohn, Lisa Williams, Lori Pettyjohn, Rex Walker, Ashley Money, Jamey Bartenhagen, Chris Chamberlain, Tracey Bagley, Al Money, and Meredith Egri; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011, in Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Rex Walker, Keith Money, and David Luffman officiating. Burial followed in Little Elkin Baptist Church cemetery. The family received friends Saturday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
