Local man faces multiple drug, weapons charges

Kenneth Benny Thompson, 31, of Gloria Lane, Yadkinville was arrested on March 11 after the Yadkin Valley Drug Task Force received information that Thompson, also known as "lil' Kenny," was involved in illegal drug activity.

Officers discovered outstanding warrants for Thompson for drug violations and resisting arrest.

A search warrant for the residence was executed and during the search 14.3 grams of cocaine and 17 grams of marijuana was found and seized. Also found was $3,200 in U.S. currency along with a sawed off 12-gauge shotgun, a UZI 9 mm assault rifle and a small .25 caliber handgun.

Thompson was charged with multiple drug offenses, eluding arrest, resisting, obstructing or delay of an officer, possession of firearms by a convicted felon, possession of a weapon of mass destruction and two counts of maintaining a dwelling for drug purposes.

Thompson was placed in the Yadkin County jail under a $110,000 secured bond.
