Child abuse charges have been brought against an additional person in a case involving a Yadkin County child.
Tony Joe Casstevens, 49, of Jonesville, was arrested on June 5 by Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office deputies and charged with one count of felony intentional child abuse serious injury.
On May 25, Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division received a call from a father of a child who had red marks on his lower back. He had picked up his child after the child had been with the mother.
Following an investigation by detectives, sheriff’s office deputies arrested Brandy Bell Thomas, 36, of Yadkinville, mother of the victim, on May 29. She was charged with one felony count of child abuse serious physical injury. She was given a $10,000 secured bond with a court date of July 21.
Investigators allege that Casstevens is a friend of Thomas. He was given a $10,000 secured bond with a court appearance of Aug. 18.
