Starmount tennis keeps undefeated season alive

BOONVILLE — Starmount tennis has started its 2016 season off with a bang. The Rams are 3-0 overall and 2-0 in their conference.

The Rams number one, Emily Mendenhall, has pulled out all the stops in her singles matches. Mendenhall has only lost once, to Alleghany.

In doubles play, the Rams have three strong teams who have earned several overall wins this season. Full results from the Alleghany and Wilkes Central matches are listed below.

Starmount 8, Alleghany 1

Singles:

1. Emily Mendenhall (S) lost 3-6, 6-4, 8-10 tiebreak Iridian Lopez (A)

2. Alyssa Hicks (S) 6-2, 6-2 over Cassiy Cleary (A)

3. Cherith McCullagh (S) 6-3, 6-0 over Yannia Nordelo (A)

4. Mick Moxley (S) 6-4, 6-2 over Teri Hall (A)

5. Sarryn Meyer (S) 6-2, 6-2 over Katelyn Davis (A)
