GREENSBORO — Forbush’s Isaac McMillan had quite a year on the mat, and finished it with a state championship Saturday afternoon.

McMillan won by major decision 13-5 over R-S Central’s Caleb Spears to capture the 2A State Championship in the 152-pound weight class. Just as impressive, McMillan finished the season undefeated at a perfect 52-0. He joined Elkin’s Said Javier and Thomasville’s Evan Makupson in a group of seniors to go undefeated in their final year.

Also wrestling for Forbush were Edwin Geovany Alvarenga and Caleb Price. Alvarenga won in the consolation round to finish third in his class, while Price fought hard but fell in his fourth match in the tournament.

McMillan’s journey isn’t over either. His next stop is a national tournament.
