Girls dominate, boys struggle

STATESVILLE – Friday night’s games might not have an impact on the grand scheme of things for the Elkin basketball program, but there’s reason to watch out for the girls, and signs of worry for the boys.

The girls continued to stay hot with a 47-38 win over South Iredell. Now 4-0, it’s the Lady Elks’ first win decided by single digits this season, but that doesn’t seem to be cause for concern.

Meanwhile, the boys continued to struggle with a 73-40 loss to South Iredell. Now 0-4, the team has lost each game by double digits, and has gone 4-21 dating back to Dec. 5, 2014.

Both teams travel to West Stokes Tuesday night, with the girls starting at 6 p.m. Following that, both teams will host their first MVAC-match of the season against Ashe County Wednesday.
