EAST BEND — Forbush routed Cherryville Friday night, and it all started with a big play by its star quarterback.

Jackson Cooper scored on a 42-yard run up the middle for the score. Forbush would tack on 40 points in a big shutout win. Cherryville (0-5) didn’t get many chances on the night as the Falcons were relentless on defense, just as much as they were offensively.

By halftime, the score was 23-0, and as the rain poured on, so did the points. While many other games in the area were postponed, Forbush (3-3) kept the field well maintained and its fans left happy. It’s the first home win for the Falcons this season, and their last non-conference match of the year.

Forbush gets a weekend off before traveling to South Stokes on Oct. 9.
