RONDA — The East Wilkes Cardinals women’s tennis team continued its winning streak with a win against Alleghany Tuesday afternoon.

At press time, its streak was extended to three, but were looking for four Thursday afternoon against North Wilkes. The Cardinals steamrolled over Alleghany with a dominating 9-0 win. Amber Parks and Brie Jarvis, and Brooke Schubart were relentless, as in singles they did not let a single game slip through their fingers, and then in doubles play they pulled off the same feat.

East Wilkes is now 5-2, and 4-1 in the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference. Their only conference loss was to Elkin a week prior. They get to travel to Elkin on Sept. 22 for a rematch, but four conference games stand between then and now. Elkin (6-0), on the other hand, is going to have 12 days off before their match. From here on out, the Cardinals only non-conference game is Sept. 28 against Mount Airy.
