EAST BEND — The Forbush Falcons have been on an impressive roll this season as they are 7-4 overall and 2-0 in the WPAC. Monday night saw the Falcons take on McMichael in a jam-packed three-game set that the Falcons ultimately won; 25-19, 25-21, and 25-16.

With aces, kills and blocks all on the Falcons’ side, the Phoenix couldn’t keep up with the dominating Forbush performance.

The first set the Falcons fell behind but battled back as Lexia Wingler found two kills to get the Falcons within one point of the Phoenix. When the Falcons fell behind again, Forbush relied on Kaylee Bulin to get them back in the game and she did just that. Bulin found two aces for the Falcons to tie the game at 5-5, then the Falcons’ front line came up big for a block to give Forbush its first lead of the night. The lead didn’t last long though, as McMichael battled back to take a two-point lead before Mackenzie Fulk had an outside kill for the Falcons. With the score tied 12-12, Forbush had a renewed determination, as it went on a four-point run to take its biggest lead of the set. The final points came courtesy of Parkley Hennings who had two kills, an ace by Katie Moncus, and a block and a kill by Colby Crater. The Falcons took the first set, 25-19.

The second set the Falcons trailed the Phoenix 12-6 at one time. Just as it seemed Forbush was down and out of the game, Sydney Matthews found an ace, Fulk found a kill, and Moncus found four aces to put the Falcons back in the game. From there the Falcons took over the set as Wingler gave Forbush a 17-16 lead, and Fulk went up for a backrow kill to take the Falcons to a 20-17 lead. In the end of the set, Wingler had another ace, Hennings and Crater each had a kill, and Ebony Williams closed the set out with an ace to give Forbush a 25-21 win.

The third set was all Forbush, as Fulk found the majority of the points with seven aces, and two kills. Hennings, Crater and Wingler all came up big on the front line for the Falcons as they each found a several kills and three huge blocks to help the Falcons capture a 25-16 win and take the match in three games.

The Falcons move to 8-4 overall. Their next match is at home against Carver on Sept. 20. Results were not available by press deadline.
