BOONVILLE — Throughout the month of April, the ACC All-Stars have been participating in the ACC’s 38th annual Barnstorming Tour, and on April 11, East Wilkes High School hosted the Barnstorming event for the foothills region.

Barnstorming is a fundraising event in which college senior players from the ACC come together to form one team to play against high school seniors from different schools around NC. This year’s team included all four ACC schools in North Carolina — Duke, UNC, NC State, and Wake Forest. The ACC team’s coach was legendary Phil Ford.

Houston Nicks, a viewer from the stands and Starmount student, stated his opinion on this function, “The game was very fun and interesting, and the dunk contest was one of my favorite parts.”

The dunk contest is based on each player’s dunking performance, trying to achieve the best dunks as possible. By the end of the game, the ACC Seniors won the game, which, in my opinion, was a definite given.

The proceeds from tickets went to the Ronald McDonald House as well as benefited each high school hosting the event.
