The Forbush Falcons Indoor Track and Swimming teams had successful winter seasons as several of their athletes made their mark at the State Championship on Friday and Saturday in Winston-Salem and Cary.
Dakota Mendenhall and Anna-Kathryn Kilby came out on fire for their respective classes. Mendenhall placed second in the Boys 1600 Meter Run with a time of 4:30.46 in the finals. Mendenhall also placed eighth in the Boys 3200 Meter Run with a time of 10:19.03. Kilby added another state championship to her already impressive list as she won the Girls 3200 Meter Race with a time of 11:44.03.
In the Girls High Jump, Mackenzie Fulk tied for 16th with a score of 4-06.00, 1.37m. Fulk also placed 12th in the Girls Triple Jump with a score of 32-06.00, 9.90m. Madisun Shore placed third in the Girls 1000 Meter Run with a time of 3:15.17. Carolina Owens placed 20th in the Girls 3200 run with a time of 13:00.25.
Overall, the Forbush girls team placed 11th with a total score of 16, the boys team placed 20th with a score of nine.
In the consolation final for the Women’s 200 Yard Medley Relay — Gina Myers, Sierra Winters, Samantha Wooten and Sarah Hayden — placed 10th with an overall score of 2:00.88. The girls team also finished eighth in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay.
Jamie Beamguard placed 15th in the Men’s 200 Yard IM and 20th in the Men’s 500 yard Freestyle, Gina Myers placed 13th in the Women’s 100 Yard Butterfly, Suzie Beamguard placed 17th and Samantha Wooten placed 19th in the Women’s 500 Yard Freestyle.
Overall, the Forbush girls team placed 14th with a score of 52, while the boys team placed 36th with a score of two.
