Dylan Ray ready to go in Wyoming rodeo

It’s time for East Bend’s Dylan Ray to shine on a national stage.

Ray is competing in the 67th annual National High School Finals Rodeo in Rock Springs, Wyoming for the North Carolina National High School Rodeo team in team roping.

Fellow Forbush High School student Will McCraw just finished his rodeo in Oklahoma, and performed well. Time will tell if Ray can do well in his second-straight appearance. Ray has previously made appearances in the National Junior High Finals Rodeo.

There’s a lot of money on the line in terms of prize money and college scholarship money, totaling more than $500,000. To reach the championship match on July 18, a competitor must finish in the top 20 of their respective event. Then, national champions will be determined by the combined three round’s scores/times.

Competition began Sunday, but at press time, results were not yet posted.
