Forbush cheerleading places first

RALEIGH — The NCHSAA held its 14th annual Cheerleading Invitational Championships at the Raleigh Convention Center. Forbush High School won its division — D2 Small Varsity Non-Tumble Division B, with a score of 74.00.

North Wilkes competed in the division of D2 Medium Varsity Non-Tumble Division, where it placed fourth with a score of 58.00.

More than 100 teams competed in the event and Leesville Road High School took home the top prize, the Carolina Cup, presented to the highest scoring team across each of the 18 varsity divisions in the competition.

Cheer Ltd., Inc., the NCHSAA’s corporate partner that assists with the invitational championship, has established the Carolina Cup to recognize annually the top high school varsity cheerleading team in the state. It goes to the varsity-level team that earns the highest cumulative score in the whole competition, regardless of the division in which it competes.
