October and November events

Forbush Rec Council basketball tournament

EAST BEND — Forbush Recreation Council will hold a basketball tournament at Forbush Middle and Forbush Elementary schools, Nov. 19 through Nov. 26. Boys and girls in grades third through eighth are welcome to attend, as well as travel and recreation teams. There is a $100 entry fee, concessions will be available at both locations during the tournament. For more information, contact Justin Shore at 336-469-1879.

Upward basketball camp registration

BOONVILLE — Richmond Hill Baptist Church is holding registration and evaluations for the 2016-2017 Upward Basketball season. Ages prekindergarten through eighth grade boys and girls are welcome to play, with cost being $45 with early registration which runs until Nov. 7. Signing up after Nov. 7 raises the registration to $50. The fee includes reversible jersey, shorts, car magnet and end-of-season award. Every participant must attend one evaluation. Participants can register at the evaluation at Richmond Hill. Evaluations will take place in the RHBC Family Life Center for all qualifying ages on Nov. 8, 6:30 to 8 p.m.; Nov. 10, 6:30 to 8 p.m.; and Nov. 12, 9 a.m. to noon.

For those not wanting to play basketball, RHBC also will have cheerleading. Registration fee until Nov. 7 is $45, and $50 after Nov. 7. The fee includes cheer top, skorts, turtleneck, pom-poms, hair ribbon, car magnet and end-of-season award.

The 2017 league schedule is as follows: First practice will be the week of Jan. 2, Upward Kick-off will be Jan 6, 6 p.m. in the RHBC family life center. The first game is Jan. 14, the last game is March 4. Upward Sunday will be March 5 at 9 a.m. in the FLC. The Awards Celebration will be March 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the FLC.
