BOONVILLE — The Starmount Rams football team will be celebrating its 50th season by honoring past and present members of the football team, cheerleading squad, and other members throughout the season.

The Rams will kick off the celebration during their first home game on Friday as they take on Mount Airy. During halftime, the Rams will honor any football player who played during the time frame of 1967 through 1991. It’s a chance for Starmount to honor the first football players who stepped foot on the field in 1967.

During the second home game of the season on Aug. 26, Starmount will honor anyone on the cheerleading squad from 1992 through 2015. The Rams will invite anyone who was a cheerleader to come down to the field at halftime and be recognized for their contribution.

The third home game, on Sept. 9, will be the Unifi Bowl, which will see cross-county rivals Forbush and Starmount match-up for the coveted trophy. During the fourth home game on Sept. 30, it will be homecoming for the Rams. All past homecoming queens are invited to attend the game so they can be honored at halftime along with the 2016-2017 homecoming queen.

The Oct. 7 game against Wilkes Central will be all about the kids. The youth programs from around the county are invited to the game where they will have kids night and various activities in which kids can partake. The last game will be senior night, where all of the seniors on the football team will be honored during halftime.

Each home game will have a different member of the Starmount Rams football staff honored. Ace Parker will be honored during a game for his contribution in the press box. Parker has announced every home game, but one, for the Rams since 1967. Throughout the season other contributing members also will be honored.
