Local softball team looking for teams to play against

JONESVILLE — True Surviviors softball team is looking for several different softball teams which are willing to compete non-competitively for the fun of the game. The team is looking for more than one team that can play on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, or Saturdays in the Jonesville area. Participants can be men and women, but they must be ages 18 and older. Contact the team captain, Dean Lambert, at 336-835-3952 with any questions or concerns.

Elkin cheer camp to be held

ELKIN — Elkin High School senior Rebecca Reece will be conducting a cheerleading camp for rising second- through eighth-graders as part of her senior project at Elkin High School. The camp will be held Saturday at the Elkin Elementary gym. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon. Registration and check-in will be start at 8:15 a.m. At noon, the campers will show off the skills they learned to their family and friends. Cheer Extreme staff and EHS cheerleaders will be assisting with the camp. The cost of the camp is $15 for advanced registered campers, and $20 the day of the camp. All proceeds go to Kira Bray and the Elkin High School cheerleading program. Contact Rebecca at beccareece7@gmail.com with any questions or concerns.

Surry Storm looking for players

MOUNT AIRY — The Surry Storm girls basketball team is looking for new players and will hold tryouts on Aug. 21 at Mount Airy Middle School. Tryouts will be divided by age groups and take place throughout the day. Second- through fifth-graders will be the first on the court from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sixth- through eighth-graders will be on the court from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Freshman through junior students get their time on the court from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Contact Alan Hiatt at 336-399-3451 or email him at hiattalan@yahoo.com with any questions or concerns.
