MOUNT AIRY — The Forbush men’s golf team played its conference tournament on Monday at Cross Creek Country Club in Mount Airy.

Logan Lineberry lead the Falcons with an even par of 72 that was good enough for third place out of 85 individuals playing on Monday. Dylan Ray shot a 77 respectively which tied him for 11th place overall. Carson Davis shot an 82, while Carson Snyder and Micah Cranfill each shot an 86. The Falcons shot a collective 317, which earned them third place overall.

“I thought we showed a lot of heart and desire during this tournament. We had a couple team members that had bad starts and they fought their way back to post respectable scores,” said Forbush Golf Coach Matt Pruitt. “We worked our butts off this year, playing a total of 189 competitive holes of golf during March and April. I couldn’t be more happy for the team. Our goal is to finish in the top five, which would be the best finish for a Forbush team in the state finals.”

The Forbush golf team also accomplished a huge goal on Monday afternoon. The Falcons qualified for the NCHSAA Golf State Championships to be held in Pinehurst May 9 and 10. Forbush has had several individuals make it to the state finals, but this is only the fourth team in school history that has made it.
