Editor’s Note: The following is the second in a series of articles about breast cancer awareness and the impact of the Susan G. Komen breast cancer foundation in the local community.Cancer is a word most people are very familiar with as they likely know someone who has had it, or perhaps they have had it themselves. When it comes to breast cancer, one local organization is working to put a face with that word. In 2011 Susan G. Komen of Northwest North Carolina began recruiting some local survivors to be photographed for the marketing brochures about the annual Race for the Cure and other cancer awareness programs.
