Area youth compete in district 4-H competition

ELKIN — The North Central District 4-H Activity Day was held Saturday at Elkin High School. There were 180 youth participating in the day, some competing in a talent show and others presenting in categories ranging from food and nutrition to family and consumer sciences, livestock and dairy production, public speaking and more.The talent show portion of the day kicked off to a rousing start with a solo drum performance. DaEun Kim, an exchange student in Wilkes County, who hails from Daegu, South Korea, performed “Danny Boy” on the flute. Kim said she has greatly enjoyed her time here in the area, she has been here for going on nine months and will be returning to Korea at the end of the school year.
