The commissioners’ chambers were unusually full on Monday with a number of parents, children and others in attendance. Several area students lead the group in the pledge of allegiance while other students were recognized for their achievements.Members of El Cambio also addressed the Yadkin County Board of Commissioners at its Monday night meeting. El Cambio is a group that focuses on equal rights for immigrants and lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) individuals.

Man dies while working on vehicle

BOONVILLE — A 25-year-old man was killed last Wednesday when the vehicle he was working on apparently fell on him.Emergency Services Operations Manager James Collins said that emergency personnel responded to 8225 U.S. 601 at around 1:04 p.m. where they found Quince Tilley lying underneath a vehicle.
