Forbush High School students will start Friday as high school students, but they will end the day as graduates looking toward their futures.
Forbush High School will hold its 2012 graduation at Calvary Baptist Church at 5000 Country Club Road in Winston-Salem at 7 p.m.
Forbush’s graduating class has 225 students.
Approximately 20 percent of the seniors plan to attend a four-year college directly after graduation, according to the Graduation Committee Chair Daniel Hutchens. A total of 18 percent are hoping to transfer to a four-year college after starting their education at a community college.
Approximately 25 percent of the class plans to obtain an associate degree from a community college. Another 12 percent of the class report that they plan to go directly to work, many continuing jobs they started while in high school.
The class received $328,001 total in scholarship funds.
The class valedictorian is Erika Noel Sudderth. Sudderth plans to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and major in biology.
The class salutatorian is Ezekiel Sullivan Cochrane. Cochrane plans to attend UNC-Chapel Hill and major in physics and astronomy.
