Spencer Kayla Ashley graduated from Catawba College on May 12. Catawba College is a private, liberal arts college located in Salisbury.
Ashley graduated cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in mathematics, with minors in both biology and chemistry. She was a member of Kappa Mu Epsilon, the National Mathematics Honor Society, Beta Beta Beta, the National Biological Honor Society, Gamma Sigma Epsilon and the National Chemistry Honor Society. In addition, Ashley was a member of The Delphinian Society and the Math Club, where she served one year as treasurer and one year as vice-president.
At the Awards Convocation in April, Ashley was named the 2011-2012 recipient of the Catawba College Mathematics Award. She also made the Dean’s List and Presidential Honor Roll multiple times while attending Catawba.
Ashley has been accepted to Wake Forest University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences where she will pursue a master’s degree in mathematics.
Spencer is the daughter of Doc and Jackie Ashley of Yadkinville and the granddaughter of Kate B. Hutchens and the late Bobby L. Hutchens of Yadkinville, the late Millard F. Ashley Sr. of Hamptonville, and the late Mary J. Ashley of Yadkinville.
