Forbush and Starmount High School seniors will soon don their cap and gown and walk across the stage to “Pomp and Circumstance” as graduation approaches.

Starmount High School will hold its graduation on May 21 at Peace Haven Baptist Church in Yadkinville at 7 p.m. Tickets are required for entry.

Forbush High School will hold its graduation on May 22 at Wait Chapel on the campus of Wake Forest University at 5 p.m.

Forbush High School

Forbush High School will graduate 231 seniors on May 22. Daniel Hutchens, Forbush staff and graduation committee member, reported that the class has received $2,157,025 in scholarship monies, as of press time.

The Class of 2013 valedictorian and salutatorian have not been released until final exam and end of course test scores are complete.

“The Class of 2013 has many students planning to go into medical, mental health or education related professions,” said Jenny Mitze, a Forbush High guidance counselor. “This demonstrates there are many compassionate members of the Class of 2013 who are concerned about others. The Class of 2013 is filled with many individuals who are doing what they are supposed to do and striving to improve their own lives and their community.”

Starmount High School

Starmount High School will graduate 156 students on May 21. Amanda Pruitt, a Starmount staff and graduation committee member, reports that the class has received $2,516.284 in scholarship monies as of press time.

Pruitt said that 91 percent of Starmount seniors plan to continue their education at a four-year university, community college or through the military.

The class salutatorian and valedictorian have not been released pending final test scores.

According to Pruitt the staff at Starmount High School sees the graduating class as “one of outstanding academic achievement as is shown by the amount of scholarship monies they have earned. As well as academics, these students have completed over 6,000 volunteer hours during their four years of high school. These two aspects alone create a standout graduating class. These students are very involved in extracurricular activities and sports and they are a very well rounded class.”

Yadkin Early College

Yadkin Early College will also hold its graduation ceremony on May 17 at Peace Haven Baptist Church in Yadkinville at 6:30 p.m.
