Yadkinville has another option for a place to buy pizza.
Papa John’s pizza opened on June 22.
Papa John’s will the fifth option for Yadkinville residents to buy pizza. David Foster opened the new location in the newly built business park beside Yadkinville Community Park.
“I’ve got another franchise in King, and I really like these smaller town locations,” Foster said. “Smaller communities have a tendency to really welcome stores likes ours.”
This location will offer both carry out and delivery service. Foster said that he decided to bring his second franchise to Yadkinville after hearing about the demand coming into the company’s corporate office.
“We had people that were calling into our corporate offices and saying they were driving to Winston-Salem, Mocksville and all these other places and they wanted their opportunity to have a Papa John’s,” Foster said.
Even though Papa John’s will be functioning alongside fellow pizza heavyweights like Domino’s and Pizza Hut, Foster said that he’s not worried about the competition because he’s not here to start a rivalry.
“It’s important to us that we work alongside Pizza Hut and Domino’s and any other pizza establishment inside town,” Foster said. “Our goal is not to come in and crush the competition; our goal is to come in and work alongside of them and offer a different taste and flavor to the community.”
Foster said he spent a lot of time researching locations for his franchise, looking into several remodeling options before finally settling on the new development on Tennessee Street.
“I got in touch with Robert Baldwin, who built this building and I really liked him a lot,” Foster said. “I told him what our plans were for the store and I just knew we were going to be able to work together as a team.”
Foster said that despite the town’s existing pizza options, his franchise will be able to offer residents freshness.
“What sets us apart is that none of our product is frozen,” Foster said. “We have a walk in cooler that is set above 32 degrees. None of our product is ever shipped to us frozen and nothing is ever frozen inside of our store. It comes directly from our commissary to us fresh. “
Foster says he hopes the business’ location will allow for a close relationship with the ball teams, schools and local businesses.
“We’re very excited to partner with the community,” Foster said. “We want to get to know everyone within the school system, the local government and local businesses.”
The new location also brought jobs into the area, providing a total of about 21 part-time and full-time positions.
“We are locally owned. We are not a corporate owned store; we’re a franchise,” Foster said. “I live in Winston-Salem, this is my business and these are all local people. When you’re supporting us you’re supporting a whole workforce of local people and local ownership.”
Foster says that his main goal is partnering with the community and bringing them joy.
“We want to be that friendly smiling place that brings happiness to people,” Foster said. “When you see us coming with a pizza it’s hard not to smile. I feel like we deliver smiles. I know it sounds cheesy but it is true.”
