U.S. Senator Kay Hagan will hold a Twitter town hall on April 9, at 10:15 a.m. to have a conversation with North Carolinians about key issues veterans face.

Hagan, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and Chair of the Subcommittee on Emerging Threats, is proud to represent the most military-friendly state in the country, and she continues to seek new ways to listen to the concerns of veterans and military families in North Carolina.

Starting today, anyone following @SenatorHagan on Twitter can begin submitting questions about veterans’ issues by including #AskKay with their tweet.

“I hope to engage as many North Carolinians as possible in a Twitter Town Hall discussion about veterans and military family issues,” said Hagan. “This will be both an opportunity to answer questions people have for me and a chance for me to hear firsthand about how we can improve circumstances for veterans, servicemembers and their families.”

Hagan has also added a new tool on the front page of her Senate web site to help veterans access eBenefits. The badge links to the eBenefits web site, which gives veterans quick access to information about their benefits and an easier way to apply for those benefits.

Hagan has been a strong advocate for veterans, servicemembers and families since joining the Senate in 2009. Her initiatives include:

·Helping veterans find jobs through her bipartisan VOW to Hire Heroes Act;

·Fighting to provide health care and answers for Camp Lejeune veterans and their families who were exposed to toxic water;

·Reinstating Tuition Assistance for service men and women by working with Republican Senator Jim Inhofe; and

·Working to reduce the unacceptable backlog of VA disability claims at the Winston-Salem regional office.

Furthermore, with the help of her constituent services team, Hagan has closed cases for more than 2,600 veterans needing assistance with the Veterans Administration.
