During the school board’s special meeting the board voted to approve Dr. Stewart Hobbs’ resignation effective Dec. 1, 2013.
Hobbs says that he plans to retire following his resignation.
“I’ll have my 30 years of service in August and I had been discussing with my wife about retiring after the first of the year,” Dr. Hobbs said. “I am 52 years old and I want to look at some other options. I still have to have neck surgery and I’ve been putting it off until I retire.”
Hobbs went on to express his love for the county and the school system.
“I’ve enjoyed it here. It’s the best job I’ve had as superintendent,” Hobbs said. “I didn’t want to put the board in a situation where they wouldn’t have the time they felt they needed to go through the process and get a new superintendent, so this is the date we agreed on. The next six months I am still here and I am going to work as hard as I can.”
