EAST BEND - The Lady Falcons are off to a hot start in the 2012 cross country season.

Forbush has taken first in three of the first four meets to open the season, including a first-place finish at the pre-conference meet at East Wilkes High School last week.

Powered by Macy Johnson’s second-place finish, the Falcons edged East Wilkes by virtue of a tiebreaker to win the meet. The tiebreaker uses each teams’ sixth finisher - Forbush’s Angelica Andrews crossed the line two spots ahead of the sixth Cardinal runner, giving the Falcons the win.

Johnson came in with a time of 22:56, 49 seconds behind the first-place finisher, to lead the team, while Paige Keaton (23:42) and Katey Driver (24:18) finished second and third, respectively.

Nancy Rios (28:07) and Erin Crater (28:33) rounded out the top five, while Andrews’ time of 29:05 gave Forbush the edge.

On the boys side, Alec Faircloth paced the Falcons with a time of 19:55, but Forbush finished well behind champion East Wilkes in the final standings.

Ben Wall (21:04), Nevin Gentry (21:54), Austin Millrons (22:44) and Bryan Winters (23:05) rounded out the top five.

Forbush returns to action this week with a home meet at the Yadkin County Park.
