Forbush scored 27 unanswered points Friday night as the Falcons picked up its third win of the season, defeating the Huskies 27-14.

Early on, the game looked like it would go the Huskies' way with Forbush fumbling the opening kickoff and again fumbling on their second drive of the game. After the second turnover by the Falcons, the Huskies capitalized with a 15-yard touchdown pass from Sam Gammons to Austin Rash to give the Huskies an early 7-0 lead.

Forbush answered quickly on the next drive, running it down the field, capping the drive off with a two-yard touchdown plunge by quarterback Devin Doss to tie the game.

The Falcons scored on their next drive as well, this time when starting tailback Tyler Morgan found the endzone from 10-yards out to give the Falcons their first lead of the night.

The Husky offense struggled on their final two drives of the first half, punting the ball on one occasion then seeing a potential scoring drive cut short with a fumble in Falcons’ territory. After two quarters of play, Forbush maintained a 14-7.

In the second half, the game turned heavily in Forbush’ favor as not only its offense kept clicking on all cylinders, but the defense began playing much better as well, really slowing down the Husky offensive attack.

Forbush found the endzone near the end of the third quarter when Morgan once again ran it in for the Falcons, this time from four yards out. The extra point was good and the Falcons were now up 21-7.

The scoring would not be over for Morgan just yet. After a Gammons interception, the Falcons continued running the football down the field. Morgan capped off another scoring drive with a 21-yard TD run putting the finishing touches on a big conference victory for the Falcons.

Ashe did find the endzone one more time before the game ended as Gammons threw another touchdown pass, this time to junior Anthony Riley who scored his first touchdown of the season.

Husky coach Bill Strong gave credit to the Falcon offensive and defensive line, as it was one of the biggest keys to the Forbush victory. The Falcons found success moving the ball down the field while the defensive line clamped down on the Husky rushing attack.

Tyler Morgan led the way for the Falcons with 142-yards on 24 carries, while Bruce Sims rushed 89-yards on 17 rushes.

Falcon quarterback Devin Doss had four runs himself for 17 yards. He also completed seven passes for 56-yards.

The Falcons had 352-yards of total offense, which dwarfed the 205-yards racked up by the Huskies.

With the loss, the Huskies fell to 3-7 overall and 3-4 in the Mountain Valley Conference. Forbush picked up their third win of the season, and are now 3-6 overall and 3-4 in the MVAC.

Ashe plays their final game of the regular season next week at East Wilkes.

The Falcons will host the Elkin Buckin' Elks on Friday night to conclude the regular season. Elkin dropped a home loss to Wilkes Central on Friday night 28-6.
