DSS employee faces embezzling charges after funds go missing

Renee Faircloth Hunter of 1132 Frye Road, East Bend, was arrested Friday and charged with two counts of feloniously embezzling $10,153.30 while supervisor of the Yadkin County Department of Social Services, according to court records.

Hunter, 45, was being held under a $10,000 unsecured bond at the Yadkin County Jail.

The complainant listed was Lt. Phil Hamby of the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Department. Court papers showed Hunter is charged with feloniously embezzling and corruptly using and misapplying funds from the Social Services Custodial Account by forging and cashing two checks totaling $2,883 belonging to the Department of Social Services. Court documents also showed she was charged with embezzling and corruptly using the department’s Wal-Mart credit card, $7,270.30.

The date of the offenses were listed as being between Dec. 19, 2008 and Feb. 13, 2010.

To see theres no comments yet tells me that you are doing what i expected, Covering up what people think to suit yourselves -- Just like you did in my daughters case - after you ran her into the ground with all the lies and she wasnt guilty, you didnt bother telling the public which your supposed to serve that she wasnt guilty -- Inbred politics in that town and the people deserve better -- You should be ashamed to call yourself a news paper!!

Its about time someone in the DSS is found quilty of something, It seamed to me they could lie cheat our steal and its ok because they make there own rules, Im sure the court will go easy on her being shes above the law
