BOONVILLE — Starmount softball coach Sarah Boles said there were a few things that were going to have to happen for Starmount to get in the mix as a softball power.
The first was to assess the talent and abilities of the players at Starmount this past season. The second was to bring back a meaningful summer softball camp.
More than 40 young players came out for this week’s three-day, three-hour-a-day camp to work with Starmount coaches and players.
“I’m pleasantly surprised,” Boles said Wednesday. “I just didn’t know what to expect.”
The camp was open to rising third- through ninth-graders.
“We were optimistic,” Boles said. “I would have been happy with at least 30.
“This is really exciting for us.”
