YADKINVILLE — Animal lovers and wine enthusiasts will get the chance to sip for a cause this weekend at the third annual Whiskers and Wine Summer Social at The Studio at Hanover Park Vineyards. The event will take place on Friday from 6 to 10:30 p.m.
Event creator Alice Singh has been actively involved in promoting animal welfare in Yadkin County for a number of years now. The Whiskers and Wine event, she said, is just a great way to combine two things she loves, wine and animals.
The social will include a meal catered by Third Branch Cafe and entertainment including magic and music from Shelby and Captain Jim Light.
More than 200 tickets already have been sold. Tickets will be available at the door for $55 per person which includes one complimentary glass of wine, dinner, a door prize entry and live entertainment. There will be auction items available for bid.
Singh has partnered with Furever Friends, AARF and Humane Solutions and funds raised with be used for spay/neuter programs, critical care needs and P.A.W. (Project Animal Warmth).
“By working with those groups and creating easy to use and access spay/neuter programs in Yadkin County, we hope to stop animals from ever going to the shelter,” Singh said. “Less dogs and cats being born, means less animals heading to the shelter — is our hope. Wouldn’t it be great to put the shelter out of business, so to speak?”
