County amends budgets, handles other business

YADKINVILLE — The Yadkin County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Monday.
Commissioners considered and approved the following budget amendments and additional items listed below.
Parks & Recreation is receiving an increase in $2,073 in grant funds for the purchase of pet waste receptacles for the Yadkin County Park. The new budget is set at $27,073.
Soil & Water is receiving an increase in $3,600 in grant funds that will be used to purchase equipment that will assist in its programs. The new budget is set at $27,600.
Commissioners approved the Sofia contract for medical clinic equipment. The machine will be used to administer testing of patients for the flu virus and will give immediate results to medical staff.
Commissioners amended a Tyler Technologies contract to bring Employee Self Service In-house. The matter pertains to adequate storage space and internet speed to host the service.
Commissioners moved on a WEX (Wright Express) credit application. The process is expected to save $224 per month in card fees.
Speer Bridge Road Solid Waste Collection Site originally was leased from the owners of the land in 1993 for a period of 10 years, though extended. Records indicated that no record of payments was paid to its owners since 2008. The back pay amounts to $9,000. A yearly rental of $1,500 remains in effect.
A fund balance appropriation of $275,000 was requested by the sheriff’s office to be used at the new Detention Center. The department said additional funds were needed to cover housing inmates and other facilities in the new jail.
Commissioners approved a proposal from Northwestern Emergency Vehicles to remount and refurbish one Ambulance Patient Compartment Box and to Deem Chassis 1GDJG316071207251 and Ambulance 1FDXE45P68DB29048 as surplus.
Vernia Wilson from the DOT was present and reviewed the Comprehensive Transportation Plan updated draft maps with the officials.
