YADKINVILLE — The Yadkin County United Fund has announced that it has hired Dottie Jackson as the new executive director.

Jackson is a graduate of Appalachian State University where she studied communications and sociology.

Jackson has spent most of her professional career working for non-profit organizations. She spent eight years with Habitat for Humanity, serving as an executive director, and has contracted for several not-for-profit organizations during the last decade.

She brings with her an extensive background in fund development and media relations.

Jackson said that she hopes to make the United Fund and the organizations they help serve as visible as possible.

“I am excited to work with an organization that is strongly rooted in this community,” Jackson said. “I appreciate their efforts and I fully understand how hard it is to raise money in current economic conditions. I want to help everyone understand how important their financial gifts are to Yadkin County United Fund, how they may have been helped by a United Fund agency and how easy it is [to] give.”

Yadkin County United Fund Board Chair Carol Roberts said, “Yadkin County United Fund devotes itself to serving our county on many levels. We are working to secure funding for organizations like Mountain Valley Hospice and Meals on Wheels.

“We also provide funding for the Yadkin County Rescue Squad, our local YMCA and all of the libraries and senior centers in the county not to mention numerous other organizations,” Roberts said.

“We are thrilled to have Dottie. She is passionate about her work, We are looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together,” Roberts added.

Jackson, who started her new job Oct. 29, replaced Cindi Dixon. Dixon was offered a new opportunity after being hired with the organization eight years ago.

The board expressed its sincere appreciation for the work that she did while serving Yadkin County United Fund.
