Students are not too late to begin their college education at Surry Community College this fall.


SCC is recruiting students for a variety of Mid-Semester Curriculum Courses that are offered seated, online or hybrid.


Students can visit www.surry.edu to view a course listing by clicking on the Mid-Semester Course button. The classes have varying start dates and lengths: 8 weeks, 10 weeks or 12 weeks. Courses include: College Student Success; College Transfer Success; Renewable Energy Tech; Introduction to Business; Introduction to Computers; Planning and Scheduling; Public Speaking; Diagrams and Schematics; Expository Writing; Personal Health/Wellness; Industrial Safety; Mathematical Models; Medical Terminology 1; Music Appreciation; Keyboarding; Physical Fitness 1; Principals of Accounting; Walking for Fitness; Volleyball-Intermediate; Introduction to Ethics; World Religions; and Intro to New Testament.


To register for classes, students should contact SCC’s Student Development Office at (336) 386-3264. New students will also need to do a mandatory orientation session prior to registration, which will be held Tuesday, Sept. 24 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Main Campus in Dobson in A-121.


SCC’s Corporate & Continuing Education offers occupational courses where students can learn skills that prepare them for certification/licensing in various trades. Students can still register for fall classes in the following: Law Enforcement; Emergency Medical Technician; Pet Grooming; Automotive/Motor Vehicle Dealer; Career Readiness Skills; WorkKeys; High School Equivalency or GED; Technology Awareness; Alive at 25 Defensive Driving; Human Resources Development; Motorcycle Safety; Mortuary; Notary Public; Spanish; Freon Certification; Upholstery; Auto Safety Inspection; and Electrical Contractor. SCC is offering many personal enrichment classes this fall including: Photography; Barn Quilts; Cake Decorating; Oil and Acrylic Painting; Quilting; Stained Class; Yoga and Barn Quilting. Registration is available by calling (336) 386-3229 or going to www.surry.edu.


SCC’s Small Business Center is currently accepting reservations for classes about the following topics: EBay; WordPress; Online Media; Search Engine Optimization; Business Marketing and Research; Quickbooks Pro; Accounts Receivables; Improving Credit Scores; Starting a Small Business; Business Plan Writing; Business Financials; Record Keeping and Taxes; and Business Start-Ups.
