To the editor,
We wish to send a special thank you to all who assisted with the 2013 Cops Care luncheon hosted by the Yadkinville Downtown Business Association (DBA) on Dec. 14, 2013.
The program was initiated in 2009 by the Yadkinville Police Department to provide senior citizens added protection and security measures by checking in on residents, keeping emergency contact information and building relationships in the community. The program is available to residents 65 years or older within the town limit.
The DBA has been working with the Yadkinville Police Department since 2009 to provide a Christmas luncheon for the local senior citizens enrolled with the Cops Care program. Gift bags were provided to each of the 82 participates, along with a delicious meal catered by Third Branch Café, a visit with Santa Clause (played by David Clodfelter) and a free movie at the Willingham Theatre for those in attendance.
In spite of the cold, wet weather there were approximately 62 participants plus the volunteers in attendance.
We’d like thank everyone who gave up a Saturday to lend a hand and to those whose donations made everything possible.
We are looking forward to the 2014 event.
Submitted on behalf of the Yadkinville DBA and Yadkinville Police Department by Kimberly Michael
