The Lady Vikings edged by with a 3-2 victory over the Bears at Mount Airy High School on Tuesday afternoon. After losing the first two sets, the Lady Bears had an incredible mid-game comeback, which tied the match up 2-2. But, it was the Lady Vikings who held up to the pressure and pulled out the win in the 11th hour.


North Stokes started Tuesday’s match on strong footing. They pulled out a 25-7 win in the first set. Then, the team followed it up with another win (25-13) in the second set.


But, in the remaining sets the competition between the two teams tightened.


Mount Airy, who has lost more matches than it has won this season, began to put some pressure on North Stokes. After losing the first two sets, the Lady Bears battled back in the next two sets with consecutive 25-22 wins, which tied the match up 2-2.


Despite Mount Airy’s thrilling mid-game comeback, it was North Stokes that handled the pressure in the final set and came out with a 15-11 win over their conference rival.


North Stokes remains undefeated in the 1A Northwest Conference with a record of 3-0.
