Nancy Allred's and Melinda Walsh's Fall Creek Elementary fourth-graders mine for gems Tuesday, courtesy of Huck's Lost Mine. The “mine” is a covered-wagon mobile gem mine out of Salisbury. The students got to keep what they found, including quartz of various colors, geodes, and emeralds. The hands-on learning experience was part of a classroom unit of study on rocks and minerals.
