YADKINVILLE — Sheriff’s deputies found a missing woman Wednesday, though not in the way they had hoped.

Azelyne Miller Collins, or Emma as she was nicknamed, was listed as missing 8:55 p.m. Tuesday in a statewide Silver Alert.

The alert listed her as missing in the Emily Drive area of Hamptonville.

Yadkin County Sheriff’s deputies issued the Silver Alert and began searching for Collins and her missing 2007 Honda Odyssey into Tuesday night and Wednesday.

The Yadkinville Police Department, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and the State Highway Patrol assisted in the search.

Officials found Collins’ body and her van near Hamptonville on Wednesday.

According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, the department and the SBI are continuing to investigate the incident.

Collins was 83 and believed to have been suffering from dementia or some other form of cognitive impairment.

She was well known for her involvement with Vintage Village Flea Market in Hamptonville.
