A Yadkin County father has been charged with child abuse following an investigation by deputies.
On Friday, the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office received a report of possible child abuse. A family member of the two children involved contacted law enforcement after concerns that the children were being abused by the father, John Michael Horne.
During the investigation, deputies discovered evidence from the residence that sustained the allegations of child abuse. The allegations consisted of assault on two children, ages 2, one having a medical condition.
After an investigation by deputies, Horne was arrested and charged with one felony count of habitual misdemeanor assault, one misdemeanor count of assault on a handicapped person, two misdemeanor counts of child abuse, and two misdemeanor counts of assault on a child on a child under 12.
Horne is being held in the Yadkin County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond. Horne is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 2.
