Hamptonville man charged in fraud case

HAMPTONVILLE — A local man has been arrested on charges relating to stolen checks.

On Aug. 10, the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office arrested Joshua Alan Adams, 23 of Hamptonville, in reference to a fraud investigation. The sheriff’s office had received a report of stolen checks from a victim in Hamptonville. Following an investigation, detectives alleged that Adams stole the checks from the victim and then obtained money from the stolen checks after depositing the checks and withdrawing the money for personal use.

Adams was charged with three counts of felony obtaining property by false pretenses, three counts of felony forgery of endorsement, and one count of misdemeanor larceny. He was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond; his court date is Aug. 12.
