Couple charged in meth case

HAMPTONVILLE — On April 4, Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation conducted a search warrant at a residence on Grassy Circle in Hamptonville where there was suspicion of controlled substances being used.

Arrested and charged on the same day were Frederick Lee Crane, 44, and his spouse, Shirley Rene Crane, 40, of the residence. Both were each charged with one felony count of manufacture methamphetamine, one felony count of possess and distribute meth precursor, one felony count of maintain dwelling or place for controlled substances and one misdemeanor count of child abuse. Frederick Crane was given a $100,000 secured bond and Shirley Crane was given a $75,000 secured bond. Both have a court date of April 13.

According to the sheriff’s office, this is an ongoing investigation with more possible charges forthcoming.
